Introducing International Adoption

"International Adoption is just one of several ways to build your family. In most cases, international adoptions are finalized in the country of origin, so once you come home with your child, he or she is already legally yours.


There are a number of countries that work with U.S. couples hoping to adopt, so identifying which country works best for your family is usually the first step you would take when moving forward.


Things to consider when adopting internationally are: age, gender, race and medical needs. Some of the common and most popular international adoption programs are China, Guatemala, Russia and Korea, but that changes as laws, policies and requirements change, both here in the U.S. and also in the country of origin. Some upcoming changes, which will impact international adoption, is the United States' ratification of The Hague Treaty on Inter-Country Adoptions.


This treaty, once ratified, hopes to ensure ethical adoption practices, which means that adopting parents can be sure that the rights of everyone involved are being considered.


In order to adopt internationally, you must meet certain minimum standards, as defined by the U.S. Government.

Papá del corazón
que entregaste tanto amor,
gracias por hacerte cargo,
gracias por ser como eres.


No interesa el ADN
solo importa tu corazón,
si igual tu criaste al nene,
no importa la ovulación.


Papá del corazón
muy sabia fué tu adopción,
pues amparaste su alma
no siendo el progenitor.


Mucho más que un buen tutor,
